Benign phyllodes tumour is a non-cancerous type of breast tumour. The tumour is composed of epithelial cells, myoepithelial cells, and stroma. The stroma often grows in a pattern that pathologists describe as “leaf-like”. These tumours do not have the stromal nuclear pleomorphism, stromal overgrowth, and increased mitotic activity, increased stromal cellularity, or infiltrative borders seen in malignant phyllodes tumour.
